If you are buying item from the US and shipped by USPS registered service to the UK - the item should be trackable from the USPS tracking page. However it is not trackable in the UK yet until the item passed through customs clearance and been registered in the UK post office database.
Once the bar-code has been scanned and registered in the UK post office - then it can be tracked on either Parcel Force or Royal Mail tracking site. Note that this is not applied to unregistered mail service - if this service is being used for shipment then it is non-trackable until it delivered to the recipient address.
